Is there a better time to write about Insomnia, than while having disturbances of sleep?

I woke up around 12:30 am after a couple of hours of sleep, and just laid there. I couldn't think of any reason why I woke up so prematurely, but I did. After laying in bed for what felt like two hours but was in actuality about 30min, I decided to get out of bed.

Insomnia is such a bizarre condition. It can strike for no apparent reason. Sure, things like caffeine, alcohol, stress, over the counter, and prescription drugs may make it more likely to happen. Nevertheless, it can strike without any other warning than yes you guessed it, not being able to sleep.

One may fight insomnia, stay in bed, and try to get back to sleep. The thing is associations are made with sleep and your bed. If you struggle in bed and have a hard time sleeping, it really is better to just get out of bed, and read a book or as I have found - write something. Then after you have relaxed a bit, go back to bed. Now you are forming a new association with the bed, a positive association of relaxation. This is a good thing because now you can go back to sleep.
